JOB SUMMARY: This position is located in the Facility Management Division, of a National Park Service unit to provide service to a network of parks within a NPS region. The park units within the network are typically characterized by a diversified infrastructure consisting of several visitor/resource venues, standard utility systems, and multiple asset types. Maintenance responsibility includes buildings, utilities, roads, trails, campgrounds, and interpretive media throughout the park. MAJOR DUTIES: Operates/oversees the operation of the Facility Management Specialist system including, but not limited to asset identification and inventory including attached equipment/features, condition assessment, cost estimating, work order generation, and life cycle information. Supports Park management in complying with core responsibilities of Director's Order #80 Real Property Asset Management, Departmental Asset Management Plan, and Executive Order #13327 Federal Real Property Asset Management. Uses standardized guidelines to determine the condition of all assets, including annual and comprehensive assessments, life-cycle assessments, and daily work findings. Completes the annual review, closeout and setup of numerous routine maintenance work orders for inclusion in the operational budget. Prepares and presents reports to management from FMSS database for operational, fiscal, and planning purposes. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
