JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:- Strategic Planning:
- Drive and execute L’Occitane’s Sustainability roadmap, working cross functionally with key stakeholders and execute strategies to address issues such as energy use, resource conservation, recycling, pollution reduction, waste elimination, transportation, education, and building design
- Setting short-term and long-term objectives and identifying KPIs to measure progress that align with Group Sustainability goals and values
- Act as L’Occitane B Corp Ambassador, through engagement with the B-Lab US community and contribute to the internal engagement on the B-Corp project
- Reporting and Communication:
- Prepare regular sustainability reports detailing progress towards goals, performance metrics, and initiatives undertaken.
- Communicate achievements and challenges internally and externally through various channels such as social media, RDVs, and Sustainability Newsletters
- Communicate with Marketing and L&D on local sustainability projects and improvements, to include in internal and external communication
- Develop and implement training initiatives aimed at fostering awareness and dedication to sustainable principles.
- Primary NA support contact for ongoing Group Sustainability CSR projects and goals:
- Lead implementation of program initiatives to meet or exceed L’OCCITANE Group’s energy and waste reduction goals.
- Supervise NA employees working on sustainability data collection projects
- Partner with global teams on any sustainability strategies and initiatives as needed
- Evaluate and propose projects for local sustainability improvement initiatives:
- Analyze data to determine project feasibility and potential financial gains.
- Institute and oversee an energy management plan for all retail, office, and warehouse locations in US and Canada, in accordance with Group CSR goals and benchmarks
- Build and manage a report outlining energy usage for major facility components: heating and cooling, lighting, etc.
- Execute analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
- Maintain operational records for green energy processes or other environmentally sustainable activities.
- Monitor industry trends, scientific advancements, and stakeholder expectations to continuously improve sustainability performance. Stay abreast of new technologies, certifications, and initiatives that could enhance the company's sustainability efforts.
- Serve as the designated L’Occitane representative on all matters related to sustainability, guiding employees across the organization on the significance of sustainability in meeting company goals.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:- Timely and accurate reporting of sustainability performance
- Compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and standards
- Number of new projects initiated and their impact on sustainability goals
- Demonstration of cost savings or revenue generation from sustainability initiatives
REQUIREMENTS:EDUCATION:- Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience
EXPERIENCE:- 7+ years of experience, ideally working in CPG / FMCG brand with a focus on sustainability strategy development and implementation
SKILLS:- Deep understanding of environmental, social, and governance challenges and opportunities within beauty and CPG sector-leading companies
- Demonstrated experience embedding sustainability / social and environmental impact with organizations, project and program management, leadership and executive engagement
- Experience in overseeing the B Corp Certification procedure.
- Ability to analyze complex data for enhancing sustainability performance.
- Ability to influence across functions and all levels and departments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey sustainability goals, progress, and initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project management techniques to oversee the multiple initiatives within budget and timeline constraints.
- Highly organized with attention to detail
- Advanced Microsoft Office Skills: PPT, Excel, Word
- Entrepreneurial spirit with a proactive attitude and a drive to achieve goals
PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:- Must be able to work in normal office conditions following hybrid schedule
- Travel as needed
The compensation for this role ranges from $150,000 - $160,000 for the NYC region. Exact compensation will vary based on factors including but not limited to, experience, skills and geographic location. In addition to annual salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program.
