Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Retail, the Guest Information Center manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily operations of the Jekyll Island Guest Information Center. Responsibilities include customer service, gift shop inventory control and merchandising, parking pass system and traffic management, training and motivating staff, maintaining proper revenue procedures and accurate accounting records. This position requires a self-starter with problem solving and solution seeker skills.
Description:
- Manage 24 hour operation including gift shop and parking plaza.
- Customer-focused with a passion for delivery of exceptional customer service.
- Troubleshoot and resolve parking system issues in a timely manner, minimizing delays for guests and pass holders.
- Lead a sales driven team and assign daily goals to employees, managing their day-to-day activities.
- Responsible for hiring, scheduling and training staff.
- Keeps abreast of Jekyll Island operations and events and ensures all guest services staff is aware of changes or updates.
- Collaborates with Director of Retail to improve operations, procedures and sales at the Information Center.
- Responsible for the store’s inventory control. Manages inventory counts, identifies shortages or surpluses, and reports all discrepancies to Director of Retail.
- Ensures availability of merchandise, orders products as needed, and stock sales floor daily.
- Responds quickly and professionally to requests from guests and JIA departments in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.
- Monitors and controls wages and store expenses based on operating budges and expected customer visitation projections.
- Prepare deposit and daily reports; ensures that proper revenue and accounting procedures are followed at all times.
- Serves as liaison to outside organizations and businesses for Jekyll Island Parking Pass Program.
- Provides a professional image at all times including proper appearance and dress.
- Protects employees and customers by providing safe and clean work environment.
- Promotes and participates in training activities and classes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or recognized equivalent required. Related college degree strongly preferred.
- Three (3) years of retail store management.
- Two (2) years of cash management experience and customer service; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities for this position.
- Strong communications skills, proven ability to lead and supervise staff as well as work as part of a team.
- Exceptional customer service skills, ability to provide a consistent positive experience for customers and visitors.
- Ability to critical think to find the best solutions.
- Knowledge of fee-based ticketing system and point of sale preferred.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office required and accurate data entry skills required.
- Must have flexible availability, including evenings, nights and weekends.
- Reliable and predictable punctuality and attendance.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required.
- Credit and criminal background check required.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 15 pounds frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- More than 50% of a typical work day will be spent walking, standing, balancing, reaching, using fingers to handle objects such as money, and using repetitive motions of the wrist, hands and fingers.
- Between 25% and 50% of the typical work day will be spent stooping (bending at the waist) and lifting.
- Less than 25% of the day is spent kneeling, crouching, sitting, pushing and pulling
- Sensory abilities required include vision, hearing and touching with more than 50% of the day spent communicating; talking and hearing.
- Must have visual clarity to prepare and analyze data and figures, use the computer and expansive reading.
- Majority of work is performed both indoors and outside. Work performed may be subject to extreme heat and adverse weather including rain and/or cold temperatures.
- Noise level is considered normal to loud.
- Work is subjected to hazards; moving vehicles.
