We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimator specializing in utility-scale PV solar projects. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in the pre-construction phase by accurately forecasting project costs, assessing risks, and providing critical insights to support decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with project managers, schedulers, engineers, procurement specialists, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive project cost estimates and ensure the successful execution of solar energy projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation: Develop comprehensive cost estimates for utility-scale solar projects, considering factors such as equipment, materials, labor, overheads, and contingencies.
- Bid Preparation: Collaborate with business development and project management teams to prepare competitive bids and proposals for solar energy projects, ensuring accuracy and feasibility.
- Risk Assessment: Identify and evaluate potential risks and uncertainties associated with project execution, including market dynamics, regulatory requirements, supply chain disruptions, and technological advancements.
- Value Engineering: Utilize value engineering principles to optimize project costs while maintaining quality and performance standards.
- Vendor Management: Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers to obtain accurate pricing information, negotiate favorable terms, and establish strong working relationships.
- Cost Analysis: Thoroughly analyze and benchmark project costs against industry standards, historical data, and market trends to identify areas for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, reports, and documentation to support project planning, budgeting, and financing activities.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, clients, subcontractors, and vendors to clarify project requirements, negotiate pricing, and address inquiries or concerns.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory developments in the solar energy sector to enhance estimating methodologies and stay ahead of market trends.
- Team Leadership: Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical expertise to junior estimators and project teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in cost estimation, project management, or engineering, with at least 3 years focused on utility-scale solar projects.
- Proficiency in cost estimating software (e.g., DESTINI Estimator, InEight, CostWorks, Sage Timberline).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical specifications, construction drawings, and contractual documents.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
