JOB SUMMARY: This position is located within the Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Southwest Fisheries Science Center (SWFSC) with one (1) vacancy located in San Diego, CA. This is a temporary appointment not to exceed beyond 9/20/2024 that may be extended as long as the individual continues to meet the eligibility requirements of the Pathways Intern Program and the employing office has a continuing need. MAJOR DUTIES: This is a temporary appointment not to exceed September 2024 that may be extended in one year increments up to 4 years as long as the individual continues to meet the eligibility requirements of the Pathways Intern Program and the employing office has a continuing need. As a Student Trainee (Engineer), you will receive on-the-job and formal training to provide experience in engineering specialty areas to train in a diverse range of engineer work using knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methodologies of engineering and the various fields of study which can include: Performs engineering technician duties while learning the basic, methods, techniques, and procedures for one of a few entry level tasks. Use computers/computer software such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation programs, Computer Aiding Drafting and Design (CADD) programs and project tracking programs to assist higher graded engineers. Apply oral and written communication, as required to successfully communicate a variety of engineering information to internal and external staff members.
