JOB SUMMARY: This position is located in Gulf Islands National Seashore, in the Visitor and Resource Protection Division. Open to the first 100 applicants or until 05/20/2024 whichever comes first. MAJOR DUTIES: As a Park Ranger (Protection), you will perform the following duties: Detection, investigation, apprehension, and prosecution under applicable laws, rules, and regulations enacted to insure the protection and safe use of visitors and the National Park resources. Educate, interpret, and inform visitors about resources, conservation laws, and regulations. Emergency medical services, structural/wildland firefighting, special response, technical rescue, open water rescue, and helicopter rescue. Collateral duties may include, but not limited to managing emergency medical services/equipment, radars, PBT's, evidence, UTV's, vessels, and victim/witness program management. The individuals selected for these positions will perform a variety of resource and visitor protection duties including but not limited to: enforcement of federal and state laws, regulations, and policies, vehicle and foot patrol, front country patrol, back country and wilderness patrol, emergency response, emergency medical services, search and rescue, visitor stewardship and orientation, wilderness management, boundary enforcement, protection of natural and cultural resources (wildlife, plants, archeological sites, historic building) and wild land fire suppression.
