JOB SUMMARY: This position is located at North Cascades National Park in the Division of Natural Resources/Branch of Wildland Fire Management. One position is available. MAJOR DUTIES: This position serves as a Fire Operations Specialist with responsibilities for the development, implementation and administration of the park fire suppression program. Provide operational oversite for a fire suppression module and responsible for providing opportunities for on the job training, mentoring and developing module members. This position coordinates and collaborates with the Fire Management Officer and functions as primary fire operations point of contact for park. This position is responsible for ensuring safe initial and extended attack suppression procedures are implemented, ensuring fire management tactics meet resource objectives and coordination with Incident Management Teams. May serve as Duty Officer for the park and when called upon will serve as acting Fire Management Officer. In addition to fire suppression this position is responsible for planning and implementing fuels projects for the park. This position will be called on at times to participate on interdisciplinary teams; will provide fire management input ensuring compliance for both agencies and serve as subject matter expert for wildland fire management.
