JOB SUMMARY: These positions are in Region 3, Land, Chemicals and Redevelopment Division, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Programs and Chemicals Safety Programs Branch, RCRA Programs Section. About Region 3: R3 This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis. Work-from-home flexibilities may be authorized as described in the Benefits section. MAJOR DUTIES: This announcement has been amended to extend the Open Period from 05/03/2024 to 05/21/2024. You will: Prepare or review permits (issuance, reissuance, and modification) for hazardous waste, polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) waste, and/or coal combustion residuals (CCR) treatment, storage and disposal facilities. Provide technical advice and support to state, local or tribal agencies regarding associated waste management requirements and impacts of improper waste management. Resolve issues related to permit requirements and defend permits against legal challenges. When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses. NOTE: Career ladder promotions are not automatic, and all eligibility and qualifications requirements must be met in order to progress to the next grade level. You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements.
