JOB SUMMARY: The Regional Director's Office oversees these functions for the Southeast Region (which includes the states of NC, SC, GA, FL, AL, TN, KY, AR, LA, MS) and U.S. Territories in the Caribbean. The incumbent serves as the Deputy Regional Director (DRD), responsible for assisting the Regional Director (RD) in formulating and developing programs, policies, and procedures to effectively carry out the mission of the Service within the Southeast Region and managing the Region in the absence of the RD. MAJOR DUTIES: As a Fish and Wildlife Administrator your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Manages broad/areas of responsibility of regional scope, exercising an authoritative and correspondingly broad scope of knowledge with an awareness of the full impact and implications of decisions and recommendations; and provides advice and recommendations on operations; regional budget; controlled correspondence; special issues; workforce planning and strategic planning. Serves as the Deputy Regional Director and alter ego to the Regional Director (RD) for complex negotiations and outside interactions, exercising the delegated authority of the RD in those situations. The incumbent represents and speaks for the RD, and in some cases the Service, to high-level government officials (agency head level and above), Regional executive officials, business leaders, the media, stakeholder and professional groups and Congressional members and staff. Responsible for leadership and coordination of the workforce of the program, setting performance requirements for senior (e.g., GS-14 and 15) personnel and performance expectations for lower-grade employees commensurate with the Service strategic goals and objectives. The incumbent manages and oversees Region 4 program goals to include a full range of supervisory/managerial duties and responsibilities. As the Deputy Regional Director, they are responsible for providing direction and leadership for all Region 4 actions, compatible with the Service, Departmental and Administration objectives and policy.
