This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR), Physical Sciences Laboratory (PSL) with one vacancy in Boulder, CO. MAJOR DUTIES: As a Research Physical Scientist, you will perform the following duties: Support National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) strategic goals in research planning, execution, evaluations, and other organizational activities. Independently carry out projects as a full member of a research team. Apply knowledge of the oceans and atmosphere to advance understanding and prediction of the physical processes that impact the transfer of energy, moisture, heat, and mass across the air-sea interface and within the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) using in situ and satellite observations, operational forecasts, climate model data, and re-analysis products. Provide a high degree of responsiveness to organizational leadership, the public, and internal and external partners. Participate in and/or support field, observational, and modeling studies, and management of associated data sets. Participate in the analysis of observational and modeling data sets to advance weather, ocean, and climate science. Contribute to the organization of, and participate in weather, ocean, and climate conferences and workshops. Contribute to research findings that may be shared at national and international meetings and documented in published articles and reports.
