Major Duties: The primary purpose of the position is to perform recurring building and/or utility maintenance and operational duties at journeymen expertise. General Maintenance and Repair of Buildings, Facilities, Equipment, and Grounds work including mowing, trimming, leaf blowing, landscaping and the use of tools and power equipment.
Also performs a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and park grounds at various facilities/sites including Janitorial, and/or Laborer, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, glazier, masonry, and painting tasks; repairs and treats structures such as floors, showers, sinks, walls, roofs, and carpets; cleans debris from roof gutters as necessary; performs minor troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments of locks on doors, cabinets, desks, closets; repairs door hinges; cleans plugged key slots; changes filters on various ventilation units; hooks up and services kitchen appliances; reports mechanical malfunctions to appropriate party for action; moves and assists in moving furniture and equipment at various facilities/sites; sets up and breaks down cubicle partitions; identifies projects requiring the services of a higher skilled crafts person; assists in obtaining quotes and arranging for services of outside vendors as directed; completes service requests and updates work logs for specific site requirements; maintains reports on pesticide use; activates and deactivates building alarms; as part of site support team, assists with special projects periodically as directed; and maintains clean, safe, and orderly work sites.

Physical Demands: Physical effort is heavy to moderate and requires occasional lifting or handling of objects or materials up to 50 pounds, unassisted, following proper lifting procedures to avoid injury. Frequently required to stand while working, climb ladders or scaffolding, and bend, stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions.
Working Conditions: Exposure to a variety of seasonal weather conditions while working outdoors (temperatures -40 to 90+ degrees). Subject to danger of falling from ladders or scaffolding. Exposure to dust, dirt, wind, and rain. May work with dangerous chemicals and around moving equipment, paints, solvents, etc. May be exposed to electrical shocks and biting insects.
Documentation for the Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) eligibility, submission of ALL SF-50s and performance information for each period of temporary/term employment that qualifies for LMWFA. Performance documentation can be obtained by contacting the supervisors for the positions you served in during your 24 months. If they did not complete performance appraisals ask them to provide a statement of performance for each period of service. The statement must specify the dates for each employment period and your level of performance (dates should match the dates on the SF-50s).
