JOB SUMMARY: This position is located in Big Cypress National Preserve, in the Administration Division. Open to the first 100 applicants or until 05/20/2024 whichever comes first. MAJOR DUTIES: This position supports administrative services of the South Florida networks of parks (Everglades and Dry Tortugas National Parks, Big Cypress National Preserve and Biscayne National Park). This position manages the administrative and business operations of the park. The Chief of Administration/Business Manager is the principal advisor and management consultant to the Superintendent and park management team for administrative matters. Is responsible for advising the park management team and staff on all administrative matters in the park and guiding management and staff of the park toward effective management of the park's business. As a member of the park management team, plans, analyzes and monitors the formulation and development of park-wide plans, programs, procedures, operating policies, internal controls and program goals. These plans, policies and programs are characterized by a complex web of laws, regulations, and policies that govern conservation and preservation of nationally-significant natural, cultural and historic resources and are impacted by constant changes, variables and unknowns. The incumbent is the authoritative source for guidance and assumes the lead role in developing, documenting and publicizing policy and procedural issuances that govern management of the park, ensuring that the park's administrative and business needs are appropriately included. In dealing with the Superintendent, Division Chiefs, and employees of the park, the Chief of Administration/Business Manager builds within the management team and staff an appreciation of the role of administration in accomplishing the mission of the park and a working environment that recognizes administration as a partner in the operational, planning, and partnership programs of the park.
