This position is located at the Natchez Trace Parkway in one of the following districts - Franklin, TN
This Career-Seasonal position and subject to release and recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of permanent employment, but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis. As such, selectee will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. Selectee are guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment. The typical season for Natchez Trace Parkway is December 29th to February 23nd, but can be variable during these months due to project requirements or weather conditions.
The primary function of Maintenance Worker is to collect and dispose of trash from roadsides, remove limbs and other obstructions from roadsides and grounds, and clean restrooms and other facilities along the Parkway. MWs also operate small equipment such as leaf blowers and string trimmers. Maintenance Workers also perform minor maintenance duties on all Parkway facilities and assist higher-level tradesmen on more complex tasks. Maintenance Workers most often work alone and possess all necessary authority and autonomy to execute normal duties. Emergency call-outs can occur 24/7. Physical Demands: Moderate to strenuous effort is required in stooping, bending, working on steep terrain (slopes and trails), working in cramped positions, frequent lifting and carrying of materials weighing 50 pounds (request assistance when object exceeds 50 pounds), operating power mowers, string trimmers, chain saws, and using hand tools for long periods of time
Working Conditions: Work inside and outside in all types of weather. Is subject to dirt, grease, grime, falls, cuts and bruises, burns, bites and stings, and other injuries. Exposed to high temperature and humidity.You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
