Project summary
Engage the public at the Community Nursery and care for hundreds of biodiverse trees and shrubs species. The Nursery connects urban residents with environmental programming and teaches people the importance of tree care, native landscapes, and plant propagation.
Opportunity description
Become trained on the best practices of maintaining a green and healthy urban forest in the Silicon Valley. Strive to build capacity in the community and maximize volunteer participation in local ecosystem restoration. Educate residents on the importance of environmental stewardship. Cultivate shrubs, grasses, and trees. Implement best nursery practices through invasive species removal. There are as many as 8 openings for this position.

Requirements and qualifications
Requirements
US Citizen, national or permanent resident. High School diploma or equivalent, 18+ years old. Significant outdoor work. Field team members must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be available to work full time, 7:30 am - 4 pm, Tuesday - Saturday.
Preferred qualifications
Valid driver's license. College degree. Fluency in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Mandarin. Customer service. Strong written & oral communication skills. Horticulture. Native tree and shrub identification. Irrigation. Landscaping. Landscape design. Irrigation. Graphic design. Education. Community Outreach.
