Project summary
Interns serve at federal/state agencies, nonprofits, tribal offices, and other community-based conservation organizations across Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and the Dakotas. Projects include: climate resiliency, habitat restoration, science communications, rangeland science, soil monitoring, invasive species treatment, developed recreation management, GIS mapping, stream and wetland restoration, cave and karst feature surveys, conservation education and outreach, volunteer management and more.
Opportunity description
Interns serve at federal/state agencies, nonprofits, tribal offices, and other community-based conservation organizations across Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and the Dakotas. Primary responsibilities of the position will be determined by individual host sites in collaboration with MCC, and will include assuring the successful completion of natural resource projects, delivery of MCC program components, and maintaining a positive working relationship with host sites, MCC, and the public.

Requirements and qualifications
Requirements
Bachelor's degree, GED, or willing to obtain. Ages 17-30, up to 35 for military veterans. US Citizen, National, or Legal Permanent Resident. Available for the entire term of service. Commitment to completing term. Ability to pass a National Service Criminal History Check. Desire to serve the community and the environment. Willing to work long hours in all weather conditions. Ability to meet the physical demands of the position. Ability to provide personal transportation to worksites.
Preferred qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in natural resource, agriculture, education or conservation related field. Experience with conservation or natural resource groups. Previous experience teaching or managing volunteers. Ability to work with diverse groups. Open to new environments, different perspectives, and rural communities.
