Project summary

Groundwork is where Justice and the Environment meet. Young adults in the Climate Corps are the muscle behind climate and environmental justice projects that resilience to our city's most underserved areas. This program prepares members for job readiness in the green industry through paid positions, diversifying the next generation of green industry workers who keep wealth and health benefits in their communities by designing, implementing, and maintaining local nature-based projects.

Opportunity description

This position involves: 1) Labor-intensive environmental restoration projects (invasive species removal, stream work, and tree planting); 2) community/urban agriculture (learn and assist Groundwork staff with GIS mapping project management); 3) Applied ecological fieldwork (habitat restoration, wetland restoration, permaculture/gardening, green infrastructure maintenance, site design, and tool safety/maintenance); and 4) Community outreach efforts.

Requirements

Young-adult ages 18 - 26 interested in “Green” careers. Highly motivated, and strong work ethic. Ability to set and execute work goals in an unstructured environment. Flexible and positive attitude with the ability to work in a variety of settings. Ability to work outside in all seasons or in an office setting periodically.
