Project summary

This project engages young adults (18-26) in ecological restoration to combat climate change impacts through activities including habitat restoration, water and air quality improvement, and community engagement to foster stewardship. Examples of stewardship activities include planting native vegetation, removing invasive species, maintaining trails, and constructing sustainable infrastructure. 

Opportunity description

Engage in restoration projects across urban, suburban, and rural Puget Sound areas. Develop skills in invasive plant removal, native plant installation, stewardship, and trail maintenance. Participate in camping trips for skill-building and team development. Gain expertise in restoration techniques. Foster teamwork, camping proficiency, and leadership skills. Attend workshops on ecology and community building. There are as many as 10 openings for this position.

Requirements and qualifications

Requirements

Ability and desire to work hard, outdoors and in all weather conditions. Commitment to cooperation and teamwork. Commitment to integrating social, racial, and economic justice lenses to our work. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (22.5 kg). Hike up to 8 miles (13 km) in steep terrain while carrying 40 pounds (18kg) of weight. Enthusiasm for environmental conservation, science, recreation, or other related fields. Capacity to learn and grow in a service-based training position

Preferred qualifications

Experience in the outdoors or physical labor. Commitment to community service and previous experience in volunteer service.
