Project summary
Engage recent Maryland High School graduates in transforming vacant lots into productive green space for community use by constructing urban greening and other community landscaping projects in the Baltimore's Environmental Justice communities.
Opportunity description
Transform vacant and abandoned lots in Baltimore City into community gardens and green spaces. Conduct research on emerging urban greening models and document best practices, collaborate with the Program Coordinator to develop training curriculum in landscaping, carpentry and construction techniques leading to green career pathway opportunities, increase awareness of Civic Works Community Landscaping program through community and volunteer engagement.

Requirements and qualifications
Requirements
A Maryland State High School graduate, and have graduated within the past 3 years. Must be and remain drug free during the term. Ability to lift 40 lbs.
Preferred qualifications
Strong interest in urban greening, the environment, and/or climate mitigation. Have a valid driver's license. Willingness to serve in all types of weather conditions (rain, heat, wind, and cold). Willingness to learn, teach, and share with fellow members and community.
