Solar Installation Technician
Position Description:
The Solar Installation Technician assembles, installs, sets up and maintains rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.
Installers verify the measurements and design of the structure on which the PV system is being set up. PV installers will build structures that allow the PV system to be mounted to the roof. PV installers set up new systems on support structures and place PV panels on top of them. Once the panels are in place, the panels will be connected to electrical components. After the system is in place, the system and its components must be inspected and tested.
Reporting Relationship:
This position reports to Construction Manager
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently move materials from ground level to rooftop installation sites
- Install photovoltaic (PV) systems in accordance with codes and standards using drawings, schematics, and instructions
- Assemble solar modules, panels, or support structures, as specified
- Commission newly installed systems
- Drive to and from job sites. Some jobs require overnight travel (at company's expense)
- Load and unload project materials
- Follow all fall protection and company safety guidelines
- Maintain vehicle and equipment organization
- Identify indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system
- Make repairs to system and components as needed
- Communicate any issues or concerns to manager
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 18 years or older
- Valid Drivers Licence
- Experience working with tools including power tools and hand tools
- Good time management
- Ability to work on rooftops, ladders, attics, crawlspaces and confined spaces safely
- Active Listening -Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made and asking questions as appropriate.
- Ability to convey information effectively
- Ability to work in a team setting as well as alone
Education/Experience Requirements
- Highschool diploma or GED
- Experience in the solar electric industry preferred
- General knowledge of home construction, building materials, workplace safety, fall protection, OSHA safety standards, etc. a plus
- Desire to learn and grow in a rapidly developing industry
Physical Requirements
Pay Wage: $20-$22Hourly with a panel bonus of $10
