The purpose of this role is to support the Director of Regulatory Policy and the Head of Regulatory Economics in identifying, prioritising, and communicating regulatory policy, advice and industry change across ScottishPower’s businesses.
You would join our Corporate Affairs team which brings together experts in public policy, regulation, government affairs, media relations and stakeholder engagement to promote the drive to Net Zero and ScottishPower’s crucial role in delivering decarbonisation at pace and scale. Working alongside colleagues in our Renewables, Networks, Retail and Hydrogen businesses, you’ll be joining a dynamic and committed team who are shaping one of the most critical areas of policy debate for our future.
The role will require dealing with Directors and senior management on regulatory issues and liaising with external bodies such as Ofgem, trade associations, specialist economic consultancies, NGOs and policy thinktanks.
What you’ll be doing
- Provide analytical support in assessing the commercial and operational impact of regulation and public policy options on ScottishPower’s business operations
- Engage with key stakeholders both internally and externally on regulatory issues in order to negotiate, influence and ultimately deliver the best possible solution/outcome for ScottishPower
- Formulate appropriate, often public, responses to regular and ad hoc industry and regulatory communications, including industry consultation documents and reports, to ensure that ScottishPower’s position is presented externally to minimise risk and support strategic objectives
- Cooperate with industry stakeholders to develop alternative strategies to address current political and commercial regulatory concerns, thereby minimising unnecessary regulatory obligations
