Senior Battery Design Engineer

The Senior Battery Design Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design and development of BOLD’s battery systems using the latest state-of-the-art CAD tools, leveraging top-class engineering principles knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Lead battery design solutions based on technical specifications to meet performance targets, including mass, safety, certification, and structural integrity, among other key requirements.
- Prepare detailed initial specifications and statements of work, including comprehensive drawing and specification tables, to guide the design process.
- Design and developing mechanical assemblies and structures using 3D Experience – Catia v6 ensuring they meet high-performance and industry standards.
- Lead and mentor other design team members, ensuring alignment and collaboration on product or project areas to meet technical and timeline objectives.
- Work closely with electrical, structural, and thermal simulation teams to incorporate their insights and recommendations into the design. Proactively suggest improvements and share recommendations with the broader design team for continuous improvement
- Apply deep knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, particularly in high-performance environments such as aerospace and motorsport, to the design and development of battery components
- Partner with project managers and team members to ensure the design process aligns with project timelines and cost expectations, contributing to successful project delivery
- Produce and review detailed drawings for components, tooling, jigs, and fixtures using 3D Experience – CATIA v6. Apply and review Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles
- Develop and apply design specifications, ensuring that requirements for clearances and safety parameters are fully integrated into our designs
Minimum qualifications, skills and experience
- 5 years or more of professional experience within as Mechanical Engineer or equivalent R&D design experience with track record of bringing projects to completion (serial production).
- Excellent knowledge and experience of 3D Experience – Catia v6 or equivalent CAD or PLM tools.
- Deep understanding of electrical, high voltage and/or battery design requirements.
- Leadership skills and proactive attitude in a high-pressure environment to ensure the job gets done as requested.
- Able to work to a project plan and manage technical requirements vs workload to a schedule, maintain active communication in an agile environment of adherence to project plans and set targets. Leveraging on cloud base collaborative platforms such as MS Office suite and Cloud project management tools.
- Maintain an up-to-date technical awareness of the business requirements.
- Proficient English.
Desirable skills and additional experience
- At least 2 years' of experience working in a similar position.
- EV/Motorsport industry experience.
- FEA and / or CFD experience
- DFM and production process experience
- Vast knowledge of materials and manufacturing used in motorsport and aerospace applications (metallic alloys / technical polymers / composites)
- knowledge of composite manufacturing processes, especially for mechanical and composite components, including tooling, inserts, cores, and all associated processes.
