Graduate Renewable Energy Consultant – Low Carbon Heat Engineer.
Hybrid working (Stockbridge, Edinburgh).
Locogen are looking for a Graduate Engineer with a keen interest in low carbon heat technologies such as heat pumps, heat batteries, biomass and district heat networks to join our growing, award-winning, renewables consulting team.

Our work is innovative and varied including projects from community and local energy level to utility scale across Wind, Solar PV, Hydro, Renewable Heat, Battery Storage (BESS) and Hydrogen.
About our Graduate Heat Engineer Role:
This is a great opportunity for someone with a graduate engineering degree to work closely with our senior team delivering commercial projects to our clients.
Who would be a good fit?:
- An engineering graduate who is confident with excel and loves spreadsheets who wants to model heat and electrical demands of existing buildings, then come up with unique strategies for helping those buildings meet net zero carbon.

- Renewable sector experience.
- A good working knowledge of low carbon heat systems such as heat pumps, biomass and district heat networks.
- Experience working in a technically orientated organisation.
What does the day to day look like?:
Our work is really varied but here are some of the things you might find yourself doing:
- Liasing with clients and consultancies.
- Heat and electrical load calculations and energy analysis for projects.
- Outline design and performance specifications.
- Identifying energy efficient improvements that could be installed within buildings and making recommendations for the retrofit of low carbon solutions.
- Using Excel and data processing software to quickly analyse and present large data sets and financial modelling.
- Supporting senior staff during feasibility and design phase of projects, including first pass assessment of feasibility, preparing outline designs and procuring and managing survey works and specialist design contractors.
- Assisting with proposals and the technical aspects of estimate preparation.
- Providing ongoing support to project managers as sites go through design, construction and commissioning works (e.g. researching the market, liaising with partners to complete grant applications / tender documents, etc).
