JOB SUMMARY: This position is located in Crater Lake National Park, in the Division of Resources and Fire. Open to the first 101 applicants or until 05/02/2024 whichever comes first. MAJOR DUTIES: The major duties of the Ecologist (Terrestrial) position include, but are not limited to, the following: Establishes and directs an intricate program of natural resources management activities that involve sensitive and complex issues that may impact a wide variety of park management actions. Performs or directs substantive, project-oriented work in one or more of the appropriate professional fields associated with high elevation forested environments. Conducts or coordinates the review of park projects to assure protection of natural resources and compliance with applicable federal laws and park policies such as the National Environmental Protection Act, Endangered Species Act, and NPS Management Policies. Develops partnerships and maintains them with the other federal agencies, state agencies, non-profit organizations and universities to accomplish park terrestrial resource goals and objectives.
