JOB SUMMARY: This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of 10-years. MAJOR DUTIES: This position serves as a Project Manager with Thomas Edison National Historical Park, supporting Regions/Parks in the formulation of projects for the management, maintenance, repair and construction of NPS facilities, buildings, trails, roads and other physical assets, Working with funded projects, providing professional engineering/architectural guidance on planning, designing, constructing, expansion, rehabilitation and/or re-purposing of existing and/or new structures. Duties Include Serving as a Project Manager, providing professional engineering/architectural advice and guidance on the planning, designing, constructing, expansion, rehabilitation and/or re-purposing of structures and facilities. Performing project scoping including the development of agreements to perform work. Reviewing and interpreting construction documents, specifications, photographs, foundational documents and other existing documentations. Developing Independent Government Cost Estimates, Statements of Work and or Scopes of Services, and other documents required for the procurement of design and construction contracts. Serving as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) overseeing the execution of construction and design contracts. The position will require the incumbent to work between both parks. Thomas Edison National Historical Park is located in West Orange, New Jersey. The park preserves and interprets Thomas Alva Edison's laboratory complex, including his library, machine shops and chemistry lab, his estate Glenmont, a 29-room Victorian mansion and ancillary outbuildings and more than 400,000 artifacts and 5 million documents in its museum collection. West Orange is a suburban community 10 miles from Newark, NJ and 15 miles from Manhattan, NY and is connected to both cities via commuter rail and bus service. The park, the nation's first national historical park, was established in 1933 to commemorate the 1779-1780 winter encampment of General George Washington and the Continental Army. The park encompasses more than 1,700 acres over four non-contiguous areas and interprets, commemorates, and protects the landscapes, structures, features and museum collections of the Continental Army winter encampment, the headquarters of General George Washington and related Revolutionary War sites in Morristown NJ. In addition, the park has more than 20 miles of hiking and walking trails along trace roads and CCC-era blazed trails for public use and recreation. Morristown is an urban/suburban community located 35 miles from Manhattan, NY which is connected via commuter rail.
