Infravision is looking for a Mechanical Engineer specializing in Product Development, who will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical components and systems for our stringing and network technology products. The successful applicant will play a key role in all stages of the product development lifecycle, from concept generation and design validation to prototype testing and manufacturing support. What you’ll do
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for:
- Conceptualization and Design:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize and develop innovative product ideas that meet customer needs and market requirements.
- Utilize CAD software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses to evaluate design concepts and propose optimal solutions.
- Prototyping and Testing:
- Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept models to validate design concepts, assess functionality, and identify areas for improvement.
- Plan and execute mechanical tests and experiments to evaluate product performance, durability, and reliability under various operating conditions.
- Analyze test data and results to identify design flaws, optimize performance, and implement design iterations as needed.
- Design Optimization and Validation:
- Perform structural analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to optimize mechanical designs for strength, stiffness, thermal performance, and Energy flows.
- Conduct tolerance analysis and design reviews to align with Reliability, accessibility Operability, Maintainability and manufacturability together with commercial viability of the product development.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to source materials, components, and tools required for prototype development and testing.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation to communicate design intent, requirements, and manufacturing instructions.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and quality management systems (ISO 9001, ASME, etc.) throughout the product development process.
- Collaborate with regulatory affairs and certification teams to obtain necessary approvals and certifications for product compliance and market entry.
- Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in mechanical engineering and product development.
- Identify opportunities for product enhancement, cost reduction, and performance optimization through innovation, research, and development of new technologies.
- Participate in cross-functional brainstorming sessions, design reviews, and ideation workshops to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration within the organization.
What we are looking for
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Proven experience in mechanical product development, preferably in automotive, or aerospace industries.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials science, manufacturing processes, and GD&T.
- Experience with rapid prototyping techniques, 3D printing, and CNC machining.
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) software and project management methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and adapt to fast-paced, dynamic environments.
