Social Environmental Principal Consultant – Capital Project Delivery
ERM Spain is looking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and talented Principal Consultant with Environmental and/or Social Impact Assessment (EIA, ESIA, ESHIA) skills and Project Management experience.
You will join our growing and successful Capital Projects Delivery team supporting our clients to achieve their strategic goals and growth objectives at every stage of a capital project.
As part of the team, you will support the delivery of large-scale capital development projects, including for oil and gas (with a growing portfolio of decommissioning-related work), renewables and infrastructure sector clients.
The role will be based in one of our offices in Spain, in Madrid or Barcelona, but we offer flexible working arrangements.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Role Responsibilities
- Undertake assessments to evaluate and mitigate potential impacts on the marine and land environment from capital development projects.
- Develop strong relationships and communicate clearly with peers, colleagues, clients and sub-contractors within and outside the Southern Europe Business Unit.
- Deliver high-quality reporting to meet the needs of our clients and regulatory requirements.
- Manage a number of projects and proposals both from the project management and the technical point of view.
- Assist in identifying, securing and managing new opportunities.
- Support the development of our talented junior consultants through coaching and mentoring.
- Supervise project team(s), coordinating workload and mentoring more junior practitioners.
- Provide strategic and technical guidance to the consultants writing the reports, undertake research and analysis, review deliverables prepared by more junior staff.
About you
- A background in environmental consultancy, environmental regulation or industry.
- Professional experience in EIA or ESIA, or other social topics such as Resettlement, Stakeholder Engagement, community health, safety and security, social value creation (social investment, local content).
- Ability to work in multi-cultural environment.
- Demonstrable project management experience is essential.
- Experience working in consulting environment.
- Client oriented, interested and motivated to business development activities.
- Project management skills (communications with clients, team coordination, report delivery and presentation of results to clients and authorities, budget and schedule control).
- Experience working in projects in Europe and Africa (ideally).
- Familiar with energy sector (renewables & oil and gas), infrastructure and mining.
- Excellent language skills (English and Spanish mandatory).
- Excellent report writing, data collation and management/presentation skills.
- Motivated to proactively contribute to a team environment, share knowledge, skills and ideas.
