VRX is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill an Environmental Scientist/Planner position for work in Texas and surrounding states. This position includes performance of a traffic noise analysis for roadway projects and the performance of air quality analysis for roadway projects. This position involves developing proposals, contracting, and managing projects of all types and sizes from start to completion.
General Responsibilities:
- Familiarity with data sources to complete environmental analyses including air quality and noise analysis
- Collects and analyzes data to support the preparation of environmental and NEPA studies
- Reviews, interprets, and integrates various technical studies into NEPA documentation
- Assists with the preparation of NEPA documents including Categorical Exclusions (CE) and sections of Environmental Assessments (EA), and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS)
- Meets deadlines in accordance with project schedules
- Participates in preparation of public involvement materials and attends public meetings
- Conduct field investigations air quality and noise studies
- Travel as necessary within Texas and surrounding states.
- Maintain excellent working relationships with state and federal agency staff, private sector clients, and other industry professionals
- bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in environmental studies, urban planning, civil or environmental engineering, or a related field
- demonstrated experience in use/application of air quality guidelines and current air quality modeling software through the accurate completion of an air quality analysis for a minimum of two highway projects.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Experience with marketing and business development.
- Experience working on TxDOT projects with TxDOT precertification or ability to acquire TxDOT precertification.
- Willingness to work in the field under inclement weather conditions
- Ability to travel as needed
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PDF editor
- Work well independently and within a team.
- Must be highly motivated and passionate about environmentally responsible development.
- Good communication skills
