Job Summary
We are looking for a Sustainability Manager who will be responsible for leading the execution of Tetra Pak’s sustainability strategy in Poland. You will report to the Sustainability Director, North Europe and East Europe.
This is a full-time permanent position, based in Warsaw. Travel will be required between 10 - 30% of your time.
What you will do
In this role, you will work with the collection and recycling value chain and in collaboration with key national waste organisations and industry trade bodies to achieve recycling targets in Poland. You will conduct feasibility studies and deploy investments to increase capacity for recycling Tetra Pak carton packages as well as work with the relevant organisations to optimise the recycling value chain costs and performance. You will represent Tetra Pak externally.
Main Responsibilities
Design and Support the execution of Tetra Pak’s sustainability strategy for Poland by:
- Leading the development of market plans and defining market sustainability goals including a 3–5-year recycling rate ambition;
- Securing compliance with recycling regulations/targets as applicable in Poland;
- Leading the execution of market sustainability plans in Poland, in collaboration with the Market Leadership Team;
- Identifying, developing and executing collection & recycling investments, projects and or initiatives;
- Conducting feasibility studies, preparing compelling business cases and leading negotiations with investors, partners, customers and suppliers.
- Managing large-sized strategic projects, in collaboration with relevant partners such as: collectors, retailers, food producers, waste management companies or recyclers;
- Supporting national policy advocacy efforts to secure enabling legislation and standards that help Tetra Pak drive its sustainability agenda;
- Collaborating with the Corporate Affairs team on advocacy and legislative developments, and with the Communications team to achieve the sustainability targets and secure business success;
- Cooperating with relevant external partners like waste management companies and recyclers to improve collection & recycling and contributing to the development of recycling end-markets;
- Representing the company externally e.g. in industry & trade associations on sustainability related topics;
- Provide data to secure reliable accounting and reporting of collection and recycling rates as per Tetra Pak’s global methodology;
- Leading industry data gathering for Poland to monitor and report, and develop sector and material flow mapping such as recycling value chain mapping, including comparisons with other materials; and
- Leading and executing local activities related to circularity, biodiversity, food systems and climate change.
We believe you have
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in sustainability, ideally also in business or market development.
- Minimum education of master’s degree, preferably in environment/engineering, business management, sustainability/circular economy or equivalent.
- Demonstrable experience working for a major food and beverage company and / or in the collection and recycling value chain.
- Fluency in speaking and writing in English and Polish.
