Overview
At LaSalle, our aim is to create value through sustainability performance. LaSalle is seeking a full time Sustainability Manager to join its Americas Sustainability Team and help us increasingly put this objective into practice in our business. The Sustainability Manager will play a key role by creating planning and decision-making tools for achieving LaSalle’s net zero objectives, implementing projects and activities at the properties to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainability, and ensuring excellence in reporting and disclosure. To achieve this, the Americas Sustainability Manager will regularly engage internal and external stakeholders across our portfolio of multifamily, industrial, retail & office properties in the US and Canada.
Accountabilities
Strategy & Decision Tools. Develop sustainability strategies and multi-year plans for each fund to achieve its sustainability goals and improve financial performance. Create analysis tools that provide insights on portfolio level performance, help fund teams evaluate capital projects, implement fund level decarbonization planning and tracking, and conduct scenario analysis.
Property Level Activities. Facilitate the execution of sustainability initiatives at the properties, including Property Sustainability Plans and portfolio wide programs and initiatives. Work directly with asset management and property management teams on property-specific planning and implementation to achieve sustainability goals, harden against climate risk, and/or meet building performance regulations – as appropriate for each asset. Manage certification programs for Energy Star, LEED, BREEAM, and WELL Health-Safety. Design and oversee training and engagement activities for property managers, facility staff and tenants.
Data and Reporting. Oversee data collection, entry, cleansing and reporting of property-level sustainability performance and activities. Work with stakeholders Property Managers and LaSalle’s external consulting team to achieve excellence in data coverage, automation and quality, and collaborate with LaSalle’s Global team on data governance best practices. Responsible for reporting for initiatives including GRESB, ISSB/IFRS, SFDR and NZAMI, and preparing for future SEC reporting and more rigorous carbon accounting. Respond to Investor Requests and questionnaires about LaSalle’s Sustainability activities.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
BA/BS and 4-6 years of experience in real estate and sustainability. Graduate degree can count towards experience but is not required.
Proficiency with sustainable real estate strategies including capital improvements, efficient operations and engagement programs. Professional accreditation with sustainability certification bodies a plus but not required.
Proven strength in data entry, management, cleansing and analysis. Experience with creating data dashboards and scenario analysis
Highly organized project manager, pays close attention to details and keeps track of many moving pieces at once, with experience working across teams
Familiarity with reporting platforms and frameworks such as ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, GRESB, SFDR and ISSB/IFRS (prev. TCFD)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Estimated compensation for this position is:
12,500.00 – 135,000.00 USD per year
