Core Activities:
- Supervise Naturalists team (and volunteers participating in specialty programs) through bi-weekly ESD meetings, daily check-ins and creating and implementing other professional development opportunities.
- Oversee daily operational duties of the Naturalist, including staff scheduling, tracking of program participation, daily briefings, customer service/recovery, staff deployment, crowd control, troubleshooting, emergency response (floor), maximize staff/guests’ interactions.
- Provide daily interpretive programs support by delivering programs (feeding narrations, auditorium programs, tours, interpretive stations throughout Aquarium galleries).
- Deliver training activities to Naturalists and volunteers (e.g. interpretive programs training, interpretation training, presentation skills, facilitation skills, marine science & natural history communications, etc.)
- Identify training requirements and create training content and SOPs.
- Support the process and selection of new hires for the Naturalist Team and new volunteers for delivering specialty programs.
- Provide superlative guest experience through supporting the Operations team with support on the floor when needed.
- Participate on various aquarium committees (Sustainability, Safety, Training, DEI, Animal H&W, Ops, etc.), providing input and perspective as an active committee member.
- Promote aquarium programs and benefits for higher levels of guest engagement.
- Recommend business process improvements.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality, education, psychology and/or natural science related fields; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a supervisory role or equivalent training in a high-volume guest service environment
- Available to work holidays and both weekend days
- Ability to work indoors and out for the full duration of the scheduled shift
- Experience with all phases of personnel management, including hiring, recognition, coaching, feedback, motivation, training, and scheduling
- Proficiency in PC environment and strong working knowledge of MS Office suite; must be Outlook proficient
- Excellent problem-solving skills: ability to exercise independent judgement and decision-making
- Self-motivated, detail oriented, and excellent time management
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to accurately apply common business math skills and concepts

Annual Compensation Range:
$58,800- 72,000 USD annually. Starting rate will vary based on previous experience and relevant skills/knowledge set.
