We are Personable, Tenacious, Innovative and focus on Selfless Service. We are currently seeking to hire a Maintenance Mechanic who possesses our same values. 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment used in the scrap yard, including conveyors, balers, forklifts and material handlers.
  • Conduct inspections to identify potential issues and proactively address them to prevent breakdowns and ensure equipment reliability.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and hydraulic problems using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Repair and replace defective parts, components or systems to restore equipment functionality promptly.
  • Follow maintenance schedules and prioritize tasks based on urgency to minimize disruptions to operations. 
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance activities to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs performed, parts used, and maintenance schedules. 
  • Collaborate with other team members, including operators and supervisors, to coordinate maintenance activities and optimize workflow.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized, including removing debris and waste materials to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Stay updated on advancements in maintenance techniques, tools, and equipment to enhance skills and knowledge. 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certification is a plus. 
  • Proven experience as a maintenance technician, preferably in a scrap yard or similar industrial setting. 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing machinery and equipment. 
  • Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems commonly used in industrial machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic instruments. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team. 
  • Ability to perform tasks that may require bending, lifting and working in confined spaces. 
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations and protocols at all times.

Normal hours 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.
