ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
- Continually: Develop and maintains safety standards for the department; investigating and reporting accidents and continually improving processes to maintain a safe work environment. Provide appropriate training as necessary to ensure safe procedures.
- Continually: Oversees quality control processes, procedures and documentation. Challenge and encourage employees to identify ways to improve processes and procedures.
- Continually: Manages the work of both union and non-union staff. Ensures union contract is followed. Ensures appropriate staffing levels. Conducts annual performance reviews for non-union employees.
- Continually: Coordinate maintenance activities to achieve the least possible downtime. Focus on reducing mill delays and increasing mill efficiency.
- Continually: Maintain up-to-date information and knowledge on all CSRM products.
- Continually: Coordinate and schedule all department operations in conjunction with the sales department to ensure timely and efficient production of product materials.
- Continually: Ensure department objectives are attained in a timely manner.
- Continually: Set and manage departmental goals for production, efficiency, and safety. Identify and communicate goals to employees.
- Continually: Develop and maintain department budget and adherence by evaluating both long and short term capital needs and monitoring all departmental purchases and expenditures.
- Frequently: Manages multiple projects and priorities, ensuring efficiency, timeliness and follow through.
- Occasionally: Assists with resolution of problems that arise in the mill.
- Continually: Maintain close working relationships with other departments (Sales, melt shop, lab, and yard) as well as administration personnel.
- Occasionally: Assist the President and other department heads in projects and development of long term plans. Other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Must possess good judgment and strong written and oral communication skills.

- Must possess the ability to manage and motivate others and to utilize problem solving and negotiation skills to achieve goals.
- Knowledge of inventory control practices and procedures, budgeting principles and cost control.
- Strong knowledge of materials, equipment, operations, policies and procedures related to a rolling mill.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters related to employee and client communications and information.
- Proficiency with computer software programs such as Word and Excel and ability to learn and effectively use any other software specific to CSRM.
- Compliance with all safety guidelines including the wearing of protective equipment and clothing at all times.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- This position is an on-call 24x7 position. A cell phone and/or pager will be carried at all times.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Climbing: Frequently. Ascending or descending stairs on a daily basis.
- Standing/Walking: Continually. Within the manufacturing plant as well as outdoors.
- Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching: Occasionally. When needing to access office supplies or equipment.
- Reaching: Continually. To retrieve supplies, equipment or files/paperwork.
- Pushing/Pulling/Lifting: Occasionally. To move items within the office environment.
- Grasping: Continually. To gather supplies or to compile and assemble paperwork.
- Repetitive Motions of the hands/wrists/fingers: Frequently. To enter or retrieve data from the computer, 10-key, telephone dialing, filing of documentation or operation of copier/fax machine.
- Sitting: Frequently. Some job duties are performed while sitting.
USE OF SENSES
- Talking in Person/By Telephone or Two Way Radio: Continually. To communicate with co-workers or supervisors to gather information or to give direction.
- Hearing: Continually. To listen, in person and over the phone or two way radio, and to understand despite loud mill environment. Ability to detect equipment malfunction or irregularities in tools or machinery.
- Vision: Continually. To read either paperwork or information on a computer monitor. Good visual acuity necessary for safety reasons in a manufacturing environment and essential to ability to perform the duties of the job.
- Smell: Continually. To detect irregularities or hazards such as gas, fire, smoke or fumes.
- Touch: Continually. To use tools, equipment, parts and materials to perform the duties of the job. To enter or retrieve data from a computer.
ENVIRONMENTAL
Work is primarily performed indoors, in both an office environment and in a manufacturing environment. It may require the ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds, and/or to lift/carry up to 20 pounds. When work is necessary in the mill, where individual will be exposed to outdoor and/or indoor plant conditions, PPE is required and will be provided.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors’ degree in business management, metallurgy, material science, engineering or manufacturing science or equivalent experience.
- Five years management experience in rolling mills.
- Two years hands on rolling experience or rolling operations training.
- Mechanical and electrical skills/knowledge preferred.
- Ability to speak and read English.
