Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult is recruiting an Senior Tribology Engineer for our Blyth site to provide tribology and materials-focused consultancy, research and testing services.
This role will expand the tribology laboratory operation into new areas of activity and work collaboratively across areas of the business, to deliver world class research output.
What will I do?
- Provide tribological, materials and metallurgical consultancy, research and testing services to the renewable energy, engineering and manufacturing sectors
- Lead and document failure investigations
- Compile technical reports to summarise and communicate results of projects
- Support enquiry assessment and represent the company on asset, commercial and programme issues
- Prepare test plans based on client requirements and witness testing in partner labs
- Understanding of materials sector and relevant standards to anticipate current and future testing requirements
What are we looking for?
- Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline
- Strong background in Tribological testing and research
- Ability to design, deliver and plan diagnostic work on metallic materials
- Background in either the renewables sector or work done on drivetrains, bearings etc
- Sound knowledge of lab techniques and equipment
- Sound knowledge of UKAS accreditation testing
- Sound knowledge of lab management including calibration, COSHH assessments, HAZOP and risk assessments
- Experience of project management and delivery of complex projects

- Computer literate with MS packages
