Career seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from mid-January through mid-November, approximately 10 months in pay status, and will be in non-pay for the remainder of the year. MAJOR DUTIES: As the Biological Science Technician (Fisheries) you will be working for the Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. Lake Clark National Park and Preserve is a land of stunning beauty. Volcanoes steam, salmon run, bears forage, and craggy mountains reflect in shimmering turquoise lakes. Here, too, local people and culture still depend on the land and water. For more information visit: Lake Clark National Park & Preserve (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov) As a Biological Science Technician (Fisheries) duties include: Conducts natural resource surveys and management activities, including fisheries surveys, wildlife surveys, and bear management activities. Lead crews, comprised of staff, volunteers, and collaborators, to safely conduct backcountry field activities and record scientific data for extended periods of time in remote wilderness settings. Plan, schedule, and arrange field logistics, manage equipment, and field gear for the natural resources program. Use computer software to input, maintain, and retrieve data for analysis and report preparation. Conduct basic statistical and spatial data analysis.
