MAJOR DUTIES: The incumbent will serve as a Warning Coordination Meteorologist. As a Warning Coordination Meteorologist you will perform the following duties: Serves as the principal interface between the Alaska Aviation Weather Unit (AAWU)/Anchorage Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (A-VAAC) and the users of AAWU/A-VAAC products and services in leading the effort to insure their evaluation, adjustment, and improvement. Planning, coordinating, and carrying out the AAWU/A-VAAC area-wide public awareness program designed to educate the aviation weather community and public to ensure the mitigation of death, injury and property damage or loss caused by severe natural hydrometeorological and volcanic emissive events. Leads and coordinates AAWU/A-VAAC staff efforts and provides direction, guidance, instructions, and assistance to the staff in the conduct of weather service operations.
