MAJOR DUTIES: As a Drill Rig Operator within the Idaho Water Science Center, some of your specific duties will include: Use all types of drill bits including PDC, Tri-Cone, Diamond impregnated, button and drag tooth. Constructs bore holes with a variety of data collection platforms including transducer lines, water sampling pump and wiring to collect scientific data. Drill on site. Direct or assist in setting up drill rigs sites and configurations. Drill in a variety of ecological conditions. Obtains, orientates, boxes and labels geologic cores using a variety of retrieval methods. Performs preventative maintenance and overhaul of drill rigs and accessory equipment.
