This Opportunity
Our Aquatic Sciences Team is seeking an entry-level Data Analyst to work out of our San Diego Kearny Mesa Office location.
The ideal candidate will have recent experience supporting regulatory compliance programs in the aquatic environment and/or experience working in an environmental laboratory setting. Knowledge and experience in data analysis and QA/QC will be central to the role. Database experience using MS Excel, the ability to follow strict QA/QC procedures and strong attention to detail is required. Knowledge of statistical procedures, sample collection techniques; analytical chemistry, and good writing skills are desired.
Your Impact
- Support a variety of tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
- Preparing data summaries, data analysis, data entry, QA/QC
- Assisting in the preparation of study reports
- Participating in field efforts (10-25% of time collecting stormwater, sediment and/or tissues or measuring water quality). Small boat handling and trailering skills are a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and demonstrated interest in a related area of expertise: e.g., Aquatic Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Ecology
- 0-1 years of experience using data spreadsheets (MS Excel), database and statistical programs.
- A strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
