The Department of Regional NSW Finance Procurement Property & Fleet team are looking for their next Senior Climate Change Risk Accountant to strengthen the systems for the Climate Risk Disclosures.
About the Role:
As a Senior Climate Change Risk Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in the preparation, analysis, and delivery of cluster climate reporting, producing related data and ensuring compliance with Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards and NSW Treasury policies.
You’ll also:
- Review and draft financial and accounting policies, ensuring alignment with a dynamic regulatory landscape and compliance with statutory requirements.
- Cultivate strong relationships within the Regional NSW portfolio, implementing processes to capture and produce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission and climate change-related data for regulatory disclosures.
- Analyse Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions data, providing meaningful reports to support climate risk management decisions.
- Collaborate with the Climate Change Risk Manager to prepare annual climate risk disclosure packages, addressing audit queries and NSW Treasury requirements.
- Provide expert advice and information to Department management on financial disclosure matters related to climate risk.
What do you need to be successful?
To be successful you’ll need to have experience in Carbon accounting as well as a degree qualification in Commerce, Business or Sustainability related field, or extensive relevant practical experience.
You’ll also need:
- A strong knowledge of evolving accounting standards, and mandatory reporting requirements.
- Experience in managing systems to effectively capture Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission and other climate change related data.
- Strong ability to partner with diverse internal and external stakeholders, ensuring prompt resolution of inquiries.
