THE ROLE
The Intermediate Environmental Consultant is to perform the duties and responsibilities provided below in accordance with Ambipar’s standard operating procedures and performance objectives, while adhering to the applicable health and safety regulations, and professional codes of conduct.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute scopes of work and cost estimates under the supervision of the Project Manager and Senior Environmental Consultant staff.
- Any changes to the scope of work are to be communicated and approved by the Project Manager prior to implementation.
- Review and ensure accurate and up to date field data is collected and there are no errors based upon what field work was assigned to complete, file accordingly and be accountable for the work that was completed.
- Maintain communication with the Incident Commander within the communication process and Ridgeline Response framework.
- Routinely communicate the progress of assigned projects with the Senior Field consultant and or Project Manager.
- Complete all aspects of Environmental Site Assessments, specifically: DSA’s, Phase 1’s, Phase 2’s, pre-site evaluations, etc. under the supervision of a senior field consultant or with the approval from a Project Manager.
- Under the supervision of Senior Environmental Consultant staff, adhere to the direction provided for the satisfactory completion of projects. Ensure the proper safety protocols are followed.
- Maintain communication with Project Managers as scheduled.
- Remain current with environmental legislation and regulatory updates and review all updates which are disseminated.
- Ensure all time and expense entries are submitted within a 24-hour period.
- Maintain a 100% billable target.
- Conduct historical well file review as requested.
- Conduct appropriate searches required for each location, CROWN and freehold accurately based upon the location.
- Write reports accurately following the approved template provided by the reporting manager, in a timely manner and within the time and budget specified by the Project Manager or the Reporting Manager.
- Submit reports for senior review and or Project Manager Review to the designated personnel.
- Update all report edits identified by senior review in a timely and efficient manner.
- Provide feedback to project managers and reporting regarding the quality of the field documentation.
- Any other assigned duties as required by the position.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Land reclamation, Agrology or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of relevant field experience in environmental site assessments on public and private lands.
- Professional designation is considered an asset.
HEALTH, SAFETY, AND ENVIRONMENTAL (HSE) REQUIREMENTS
- Reviewing and adhering to the company HSE policies and procedures as directed by the HSE Manager.
- Complying with policy, rules, standards, procedures, and practices.
- Correcting hazards as soon as they are observed.
- Immediately report to supervisory personnel all incidents, injuries / illnesses, near misses and hazard ID’s.
- Using equipment and tools (including rentals) as per manufacturer’s specifications and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Knowing the location, type and operation of emergency equipment and being familiar with site-specific emergency procedures.
- Refusing to perform work that poses an imminent danger and/or refusing to perform work they are not qualified to perform.
- Participating in workplace inspections and monthly office safety inspections as directed by the HSE Manager.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI)
- Commitment to safety and safety performance – understanding that individual KPI’s effect divisional and organizational HSE targets and goals.
- Replicon – daily time and expense entry.
- Utilization / billable targets – 100% / 100% with the exception of approved non-billable time (internal compliance assignments, holidays, vacation, safety, training, and professional development).
- Professional development - increasing competency.
- Quality of work – as appraised by immediate supervisors, peers, and clients.
