Position Summary
This is a hands-on, full-time position with duties that would include in office work and traveling. The Environmental, Health, and Safety Instructor's purpose is to provide quality training that is current, comprehensive, and site-specific. The ideal candidate would be based near Sacramento. CA or be willing to relocate to Northern CA within driving distance to Folsom, CA. The candidate would have a passion for teaching, is an excellent communicator and is willing to travel stateside and internationally if needed. Ideally, the candidate would be fluent in Spanish both verbal and written. Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities
- Instruct various Environmental Health & Safety programs including OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), Environmental (e.g., Hazardous Waste Management, Spill Prevention, Control & Countermeasures, Hazardous Materials Business Plan) & transportation training programs with hands-on exercises offered by NES on an instruction led and on-site basis.
- Instruct students and clients using various formats, in-person, webinars, and virtual.
- Maintain general cleanliness of NES training facilities.
- Provide completed sign-in sheets and records of training after NES programs.
- Perform program and regulatory review.
- Provide professional development.
- Regular mentor and provide training to more junior instructors.
- Plan, develop and implement course training presentations and materials.
- Proactively market the department to increase enrollment.
- Build and or deliver instructor-led training in person and via distance-learning media using blended learning activities.
- Instructor III –
- Responsible for customer relations and customer service satisfaction.
- Responsible for program development and updating.
- Report and consult with upper management and review training materials.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Specialized training beyond high school – Area of training related OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act), Environmental & transportation training programs training related OSHA a PLUS!
- CDGT – Certified Dangerous Goods Trainer
- CHMM – Certified Hazardous Material Manager
- CIT – Certified Instructional Trainer
- REHS – Registered Environmental Health Specialist
Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Advanced public speaking and emotionally mature in dealing with students in less-than-optimal circumstances.
- Able to deal with disruptive students and relate a topic to students professionally, being mindful of various competency and learning levels.
- Basic MS Office knowledge with advanced proficiency in PowerPoint.
- Must be advanced in presenting in person and virtual.
- Able to communicate effectively with diverse work environments and relate to various class groups.
Wage: $77,000 to $87,000 depending on experience and certifications held and current
Work Hours: General work hours will be 7 am to 6 pm. Hours vary and are dependent on business needs.
Travel: This position travels nearly 100% of the time. Travel includes both day trips and overnight requirements. The schedule includes working on average two weekends per month.
*Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and carry, sometimes upstairs/downstairs or long distances, up to 50 lbs. This includes but is not limited to equipment
