Position Description

Position Summary
The Engagement Coordinator will educate and serve the campus and community through education, advocacy, and collaborative work. The Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting and organizing volunteers to help run the offices events. Responsibilities also include working with other campus organizations such as the SGA, the Agape Center and Earthkeepers to promote sustainability programming and recognize the unique contribution of various knowledge communities in contributing to social and ecological degradation, issues of social justice and/or sustainability. The position will also have interface with the larger Mechanicsburg/Harrisburg area community to engage unique campus partnerships.

Experience Required
Previous experience with event coordination and experience with the Office of Sustainability preferred

Strong communication, both verbally and in writing
Passionate about implementing sustainability solutions to the campus environment

Primary Duties
1. Work collaboratively with organizations on and off campus including Student Government, Earthkeepers, Oakes Museum, Multi-cultural Council, IJM, HRA and the Collaboratory to engage in the following activities:

a. Sustain-A-Fest
b. Campus sustainability tours
c. Service Day
d. Lisburn Road Clean-Up
e. Spoke N’True
f. Chapel and speaker series
g. Presenting in CCC classes
h. Distribution of the Sustainability Survey and Employee Sustainable survey

2. Participate as Student Representative on SGA Student Senate (approx. 1 meeting/week)

3. Participate as the Student Representative on the Sustainability Committee

4. Partner with campus groups in the community on an as needed basis to educate or equip the surrounding community in sustainability practices

5. Reach out to campus partners to schedule sustainability presentations (Ie, CCC, FYS, environmentally related classes)

6. Develop and modify presentations, keeping them timely and relevant

7. Conduct presentations for campus community members (students and employees) through lunch and learns, tabling events, CCC classes, tours hosted by the Oakes Museum, etc.

8. Assist with integrating sustainability into employee welcome program/ orientation (either through written or oral presentation)

9. Assist with integrating sustainability into student program orientations (including freshman orientation, commuter orientation, graduate student orientations)

10. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance
