Data Manager, Product Sustainability
The Global Product Sustainability (GPS) team’s mission is to help customers and employees understand the environmental impacts of Xylem’s products. We assess impacts through data-driven tools and processes, such as life cycle assessments (LCAs), carbon footprint calculations, models for product circularity, and energy consumption models. The Data Manager for Product Sustainability will report to the Director of GPS, and will have the essential role of finding, curating, and managing the data that feed our models.
Essential Duties
The Data Manager will be responsible for development and maintenance of a data management system that assures the quality of both incoming data and outgoing information for the GPS program. In this role they will learn about a variety of sustainability-related metrics and analyses, such as life cycle assessments (LCAs), embodied carbon, and environmental product declarations (EPDs).
The Data Manager will perform the following essential duties:
- Author, control, and execute a Data Management Plan for the GPS team.
- Work with GPS analysts to understand the types of data they need.
- Identify the ERP, PLM, procurement and other data sources that hold the data.
- Establish and leverage key relationships with business units POCs for the retrieval of data.
- Work with analysts to develop new approaches and assumptions for filling data gaps.
- Prepare our SOPs for the collection, storage and management of data used in our analyses.
- Establish basic quality control checkpoints on incoming and outgoing data and reports.
- Assist auditors in finding data.
- Assist in the preparation of reports for quarterly meetings and for the annual corporate sustainability report.
- Manage the revision control and general content on internal Sharepoint pages we use as a communication platform.
- Build and improve our platforms and processes for data management.
Qualifications:
- Education in a technical field (Associates degree minimum, Bachelor’s preferred.).
- The job requires the experience of 2-4 years.
- Understanding and/or experience with life cycle assessments, Greenhouse Gas Protocols, Science-Based Target Initiative and/or similar tools and frameworks.
- Demonstrated aptitude with Microsoft platforms, information technology and digital storage systems that can be used to secure and move data. Exceptional strength with Excel and PowerBI preferred.
- Preference for candidates who are familiar with ERP, PLM, PDM CRM and similar systems.
- Effective communication in English, both oral and written, is an absolute requirement.
- Experience developing and managing standardized forms and reports.
- Flexibility to accommodate work across global time zones.
Physical Demands:
- This role will be based in our Vadodara, India office.

Work Environment:
- This is a full-time, salaried position with a standard work week of 40 hours, occasionally more as the work requires.
- The candidate must be able to accommodate a schedule that overlaps with European and American time zones. The GPS director is based in North America. Expect some late evenings, balanced out by a later start to your workday.
