Engineer I, Senior, Sustainability
The Offshore Sustainability Engineer will be responsible for supporting the activities of the Global Sustainability Team related to the environmental sustainability of the offshore sector. These include but are not limited to Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, carbon capture, waste stream, and other related aspects of offshore sustainability. The Sustainability Engineer will be responsible for scaling up existing services, capitalizing on new service or product opportunities, and identifying new revenue streams.
What You Will Do:
- Maintain a solid understanding of emerging environmental regulatory frameworks related to the offshore sector.
- Conduct emissions and waste streams related projects focusing on the offshore sector.
- Conduct air pollution control related projects focusing on the offshore sector.
- Support the different projects, services, and other activities within the department.
- Interact with clients to perform services offered by the Global Sustainability team.
- Establish and manage client projects.
- Update and inform the Global Sustainability team on regulatory changes and their impact on ABS business.
- Develop methodologies, tools, and services related to alternative power sources, simulation, and other areas of interest relating to the activities associated with the Global Sustainability Team.
- Conduct seminars and workshops as well as attend industry events and conferences related to the environmental performance of marine vessels and offshore units.
- Contribute to authoring ABS publications and thought leadership documents.
What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
- Requires a BSc in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on environmental performance. MSc degree preferred.
- Requires a minimum of three (3) years of related offshore experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Practical experience in the offshore industry.
- Knowledge of greenhouse regulations, impacts, and technology transition.
- The ability to identify, analyze and propose solutions to problems (i.e., the competence to demonstrate complex problem-solving skills).
- Ability to work well with others.
- Excellent communication skills (oral & written), enabling effective communication at multiple levels.
- Strong commitment to ethical business practices, in full accordance with relevant corporate policies.
- Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.
- Obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports to a Manager, Director, or Executive level position.
