General Summary
Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are strategically core elements of Murata’s 2030 Vision, to become the global No. 1 electronic components manufacturer. Our ESG Environmental/Social/Governance (ESG) initiatives are aimed at contributing to the advancement of society, earning the trust of our stakeholders, protecting these relationships, and providing continuous support to our local communities.
The focal points of the CSR role are managing and developing social contribution programs including volunteer activities, company sponsorships, and local community engagement. In the area of Sustainability, this role is expected to identify practical measures which Murata Electronics can implement in the short and long term, lead the execution of the plans, and assess the results. Raising internal and external awareness of Murata Electronics Americas activities in these areas are additional key components of the role.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Sustainability
- Develop the Mid- and long-term strategies which will enable Murata Electronics Americas to identify opportunities for improvement and implement measures to drive environmental, social, and economic sustainability.
- Develop the objectives, KPI’s, and metrics to measure social value, prepare and execute the plan to achieve them, and monitor and report the results to internal and external stakeholders.
- Organize cross-functional project teams who will establish and drive the activities that will have a material and measurable impact on our targeted revenue gains, profitability, and social value.
CSR
- Assure Murata Electronics company-wide awareness and compliance with Murata’s global CSR policies and CSR charter.
- Develop the strategy which will enable Murata Electronics Americas to meet its annual objectives and those of the Mid-Term Plan.
Preferred Qualifications
- Passion for sustainability, and social responsibility.
- Familiarity with sustainability frameworks such as Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), GRI, TCFD, IIRC, etc.
- Knowledge of market drivers and trends in sustainability space such as environment, human rights, diversity, and wellness.
- Minimum three years of related experience with a B2B company in electronics, industrial, or technology areas.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience working in a global company, including with co-workers in Japan.
- Proficiency with internal and external communications to reach various audiences.
- Knowledge of Murata’s product types & target markets.
Miscellaneous Job Responsibilities
- Oversight of responses to customer surveys, questionnaires, assessments, and audits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.
- Experience developing and maintaining CSR or Sustainability programs and their related policies, guidelines, training plans, and presenting content.
- Proven experience in sustainability management, preferably within the electronics industry.
- Minimum three years of related experience with a B2B company.
- Experience with multi-functional teams.
- Strong project/program management skills.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Travel
Infrequent domestic and international travel.
