About the Role:
Are you a student looking for an internship opportunity to work and learn at one of the world’s most respected companies while gaining exposure to various aspects of environmental science and management? Alcoa is seeking a summer Intern to work in the Corporate Transformation group and gain in-depth knowledge of remediation. environmental science and management, as well as safety aspects.
Main responsibilities:
- Supporting critical environmental management/remediation projects in key US locations, such as, Massena, NY, Badin, NC and Anderson County, Tx to address post closure obligations.
- Supporting development of a SharePoint site to serve as a Remedial Project Management tool,
- Create and update data and information repositories for each location in SharePoint for the implementation of the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM) program for Alcoa’s impoundments.
- Complete updates to GISTM progress tracking and reporting tools to meet Alcoa’s reporting obligations.
- Prepare PowerPoint presentations documenting conformance of impoundments with GISTM principles.
- Support Process Safety Management critical systems identification and implementation of the process.
- Assist with development of general EHS trainings including creation of recordings and videos.
Full-time placement with Alcoa post-graduation is not guaranteed and will be considered after evaluating a candidate’s summer performance, based on the needs of the company.
What you can bring to the role:
- Full time student at an accredited college or university with a minimum of 2 years of engineering and/or environmental science coursework.
- Excellent communication skills with professional decorum, oral and written.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively to achieve goals and deliver results.
- Ability to work independently and interdependently as needed to complete tasks.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office tools is required.
