We’re excited to announce that we’ll be looking to fill many summer internship positions at our site in Uppsala to work with us over the summer of 2024. The summer internship positions are spread across various parts of our organization - from manufacturing and research to logistics, quality control and administration. Together with other summer interns, you get the opportunity to learn directly from area experts and try your wings in a vibrant organization with excellent career opportunities.
At Cytiva Uppsala, we produce large quantities of chromatography resin each year. The resins are used by our customers to produce lifesaving therapeutics for patients around the world.
We are looking for a summer intern to join our section (Base Matrix Design) with a focus on sustainability – our aim is to reduce the carbon footprint with regards to organic synthesis of new products.
In the production of chromatography resins, there are several synthesis steps that can be further optimised. Whether that be a reduction in raw materials (chemicals, water) used in the process or in reaction conditions (energy costs).
As a summer intern with us, you’ll get the opportunity to plan a smaller study where you will synthesize prototypes from start material (agarose) to a final chromatography product (resin). The position includes both laboratory (organic synthesis & protein coupling) and analytical work (chromatography, microscopy).
You will be a part of a larger team and have support during your time with us from two supervisors.
We think this project is suited for students who are studying chemistry with an interest in improving sustainability within the life sciences and/or process improvement.
What you’ll do:
- Learn and perform organic synthesis in the laboratory
- Write lab reports and report findings
- Analytical work – with help from supervisors
Who you are:
- Ongoing studies within chemistry / biotechnology.
- Experience working with synthesis is a plus.
- Knowledge of organic chemistry / chromatography is a plus.
- You communicate fluently in English and/or Swedish.
As a summer intern at Cytiva, it is required that you are at least 18 years of age and have a valid work permit. Interview and selection will happen continuously, and the position may be filled before the last day of application, 7 April 2024. For any questions you might have regarding this summer internship position, please contact hiring manager Jimmy Hedin Dahlström at Jimmy.HedinDahlstrom@cytiva.com.
We look forward to hearing from you!
