Part-Time Education Programmer

Reports to: Education Program Coordinator
Under limited supervision, will be responsible for facilitating programming in the Toledo Zoo’s Education Department. Each programmer is assigned an area in the department with specific responsibilities: Overnights and Scouts Programs; Schools and Community Programs; and Camps and Family Programs. This individual would also support educational programming in any area of the education department.
General job responsibilities:
- Teaching programs at the Zoo and in the community
- Writing curriculum
- Program/experience set up
- Support animal experiences
- Assist with tracking and evaluating program use and effectiveness
Area specific details:
- Overnights and Scout Programs: this team facilitates our evening programming for scouts and other organizations. Programmers mostly provide day time support with periodic overnight hours. In addition, this team leads badge related programs during the day. Requires one weekend day.
- Camp and Family Programs: this team leads classes for toddlers and preschools throughout the school year and day camps during school breaks. Requires Saturday availability
- Schools and Community Programs: this team travels throughout the community to deliver programs throughout the area at schools. In addition to in person school programs, this group hosts virtual programs and leads homeschool programs. Requires a rotation of weekend coverage.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must have a valid drivers’ license
- Be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred
