Nutrition Assistant at Sydney Zoo

The Position
This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of an exciting team at Sydney Zoo in the role of Nutrition Assistant, utilising your skills in an area that you are genuinely passionate about. This role will commence as soon as possible.
The Nutrition Assistant is responsible for the preparation of diets to meet the nutritional needs of our animals. Working in a specialised team under the management of the Nutrition Manager, this role will oversee efficient and effective operations in regards to nutrition standards and daily diet preparation. The role also has responsibility to maintain a clean and hygienic preparation area, compliant with current food safety standards.
Skills, Knowledge, and Relevant Experience
- A sound knowledge of animal science in terms of husbandry, nutrition, and hygiene
- A minimum of one year working in the zoo profession or in a related field
- Demonstrated understanding of the role nutrition plays in ensuring a positive animal welfare state linked to the Five Domains
- Demonstrated understanding of the role of Zoo’s consistent with the strategy and future direction of SZ
- Experience using computer programmes including spreadsheets and Zoo databases such as ZIMs
- Valid and current driver’s license with the ability to drive a manual vehicle
- Knowledge of current food safety standards (preferred)
