JOB SUMMARY
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Responsible for filing work orders and PM’s
•Will assist Manager/Supervisor in filling out purchase requisitions.
•Provide a positive influence and guide their subordinates.
•Assist in training new trades helper.
•Attend/lead weekly safety meetings.
•Performs preventive/periodic maintenance, inspections, repairs to the fuel, ignition, electrical, braking, and any/all systems associated with heavy equipment, automotive/fleet vehicles, and power tools.
•Repairs and maintains hydraulic equipment, systems and gates.
•Follow protocols and operating procedures.
•Conducts weekly inventory and inspections as assigned.
•Maintains tools, shop and equipment to ensure proper safe working conditions.
•Communicate with and assist vendors, contractors and visitors as needed. Work cooperatively with zoo staff.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
•Must have at least five years of hands on experience within a mechanical field such as automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment.
•Must have a high school diploma or GED.
•Must be flexible, self-motivated and a team player.
•Must be able to establish and maintain an effective rapport with all levels of management, employees and zoo guests.
•Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
•Must be able to walk, stand, sit, kneel, stoop, crawl, twist, reach above head, pull bend, climb stairs and ladders and carry up to 75lbs.
•Must be able to work holidays and weekends.
•Must be able to actively work in inclement weather.
•Must have a valid driver’s license
