As a Biological Science Technician, you will perform the following duties:
NOTE: Farming experience that was not performed in a controlled environment, or experience as a laborer who was not responsible for planning and scheduling his/her own work, but only performed assigned tasks, would not qualify as specialized experience.

A relocation incentive is not the same as a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move and, as such, may be granted in conjunction with one another.
This announcement may be used to fill additional positions if identical vacancies occur within 90 days of the issue date of the referral certificate.Physical Demands: Physical demands required for this position requires strenuous physical activity including periods of standing, walking, climbing, and lifting and carrying heavy objects. Incumbent must be physically able to swim in varying conditions including choppy seas, poor visibility, and against currents. Incumbent will be expected to lift project and SCUBA gear. The incumbent must be able to maintain physical standards to qualify as a NPS diver as outlined in the National Park Diving Reference Manual 4. Documentary research and report writing work is sedentary, entails the ability to concentrate and write for long periods of time. Incumbent is expected to conduct duties in a safe and orderly manner so as not to endanger self, fellow workers, or property. The work is partially sedentary with prolonged standing, walking, and bending often required. Heavy items (e.g., equipment and packs up to 50 pounds) must be lifted and carried on a routine basis.
Working Conditions: Work assignments are preformed both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather. Assignments may be performed in potentially hazardous areas including rough seas, swift-moving water, steep slopes, rocky terrain, swamps and forests. Field work includes exposures to extreme weather conditions and terrain, fast-moving waters, coral disease treatment, sharp benthic organisms, and wild animals. Underwater work will utilize SCUBA diving. Swimming, snorkeling and SCUBA diving may include entering cold, fast-moving and/or low- visibility waters and/or exposure to stinging organisms, for which personal protective equipment (wetsuit) will be used. Laboratory work/field preparations may involve hazardous chemical exposure. The work is performed in an office, laboratory, and in the field. Field work includes exposure to extreme weather conditions and terrain, pesticides, poisonous plants, biting insects, and wild animals. Laboratory work may involve exposure to hazardous chemicals.You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
